The Accessibility Expert Who Plans Everyone's Vacation

I'm Cindy Caldwell—and I have an unfair advantage in travel planning.

For 30 years, I worked as a board-certified Occupational Therapist, asking  questions like

  • Can someone using a walker navigate this bathroom safely?
  • Are grab bars positioned correctly?
  • What's the threshold height between rooms?
  • Where are the trip hazards?

Now I ask those same questions about cruise ships, resorts, and vacation rentals.

The difference? I'm licensed and trained to evaluate accessibility—not just  reading online reviews and hoping for the best.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU:  Whether you're coordinating a multigenerational family trip, recovering from  an injury, traveling with mobility equipment, or just appreciate obsessive  attention to detail—you benefit from professional-grade planning.

After coordinating numerous group trips and accessible vacations, I've  learned something important: Everyone wins when someone actually knows what  they're doing.

YOUR TRIP. PROFESSIONALLY PLANNED. COMPLETELY FUNCTIONAL.

Let's make it happen.

Accessibility — Verified, Not Assumed

Most travel planning leans on the same three words: "accessible room available." Mine doesn't.

I spent thirty years as a licensed Occupational Therapist reading environments for safety, function, and dignity. Today I bring that same clinical eye to cruise cabins, resort suites, and vacation rentals — measuring doorway widths, verifying grab bar placement, and confirming that transfer space exists in reality, not just on a marketing PDF.

A "spacious" bathroom is in the eye of the beholder — until you're in it with a wheelchair. I remove that guesswork. Every property recommendation comes with a written assessment in plain language, so you book with confidence instead of hope.

What I verify before you book:

  • Doorway and bathroom clearances
  • Roll-in showers and grab bar placement
  • Bed heights and transfer space
  • Pool lifts (and whether they're actually operational)
  • Step-free access to dining, pools, and excursions
  • Sensory-friendly options for autism travel
  • Staff training and on-site support

Who this serves:

Wheelchair and mobility device users. Families traveling with autism. Multigenerational groups where one member moves differently than the others. Travelers recovering from surgery or injury. And anyone who simply prefers to know exactly what they're walking into.

Credentials behind the work:

  • Licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) — 30+ years
  • Certified Autism Travel Professional (CATP) — IBCCES
  • Co-host, Inclusion by Design podcast
